Wet toilet tissue is typically made from flushable spunlace nonwoven materials and processed through a series of automated steps, including unwinding, folding, perforation, stacking, slitting, liquid application, packaging and lid application. For perforated pull-out wet toilet tissue, each process needs to work together to ensure accurate sheet separation, uniform moisture and consistent finished product quality.
Automatic Unwinding
The raw material is loaded onto the automatic unwinding unit and continuously fed into the production line. A dual-station unwinding system allows one roll to be automatically spliced to the next without stopping the machine. Automatic tension control, edge guiding and material detection help maintain stable and smooth material feeding.
Folding and Perforation
The material is then folded into the required sheet format and perforated at the preset positions. Servo-controlled folding and perforation systems ensure consistent sheet dimensions and accurate perforation. The perforation creates a controlled connection between adjacent sheets, allowing the next sheet to be pulled out with a small corner while the current sheet can be easily torn off.
Counting and Stacking
After folding and perforation, the sheets are accurately counted by the servo-controlled counting system and automatically separated into individual stacks according to the preset sheet quantity. The automatic stacking system ensures stable and accurate stack separation, with each stack containing the required number of sheets for subsequent cutting and liquid application.
Cutting and Transfer
The stacked product is cut to the required length and transferred to the liquid application section. The conveying system keeps the stacks properly aligned and prevents product accumulation or displacement during transfer.
Liquid Application
Unlike production methods that wet the continuous nonwoven material before folding, this process applies liquid after folding, perforation and stacking are completed. The finished stacks are sprayed from multiple sides using metering pumps and multiple spray nozzles, allowing the liquid to penetrate the stack evenly. The liquid dosage and wet-to-dry ratio can be adjusted according to the product requirements.
Metal Detection and Checkweighing
Before packaging, the wetted products pass through a combined metal detector and checkweigher. The system detects metal contaminants and checks product weight, automatically rejecting products that contain metal or fall outside the preset weight range.
Automatic Packaging
The inspected products enter the automatic packaging machine, where the packaging film is fed and processed through perforation, labeling, bag forming, product loading, heat sealing, corner forming and air removal. The finished products are then automatically discharged from the packaging machine.
Lid Attaching and Final Inspection
For wet toilet tissue products with lids, the packaged products are transferred to the automatic lid attaching machine. The machine automatically applies adhesive and attaches the lid, while an optional vision inspection system can check for missing lids, missing labels or incorrectly positioned lids and automatically reject defective products.
